Electrical goods company Havells India Limited is eyeing turnover of Rs 600 crore in Uttar Pradesh during the current fiscal.

This would be 20% growth over last year, when it had clocked turnover of about Rs 500 crore.

"UP has always been an important market for us. Today, we are the market leaders in the state across all verticals of our presence,” Havells associate director Rakesh Mehrotra said at a conference call here today.

He said the company’s growth had been consistent in the state over the last few years growing by over 20%.

Now, the company is focusing on the vast rural market in UP with the launch of REO brand of conventional electrical switches and sockets.

“Over the last few years, tier II and III towns have contributed significantly to our revenue,” he informed.

In UP, Havells has presence in 140 towns with population of over 15,000 and by the end of this fiscal, it would enhance its presence to 426 towns by appointing 150 more dealers/distributors to the existing count of 442.

“We would also strengthen our after sales service muscle by doubling the service personnel count to 400 in another two years,” Mehrotra said.

Meanwhile, the company would open 43 new ‘Havells Galaxy’ in UP by 2014-15 against the current tally of 32. This concept has been designed to display all its products in a relaxed ambience.
