Top bracket hotels here have beefed up their security on the demand by the guests following the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks by installing electronic gadgetry.

The security has been stepped up in the hotels owing to the constant demand by the guests who regularly visit the metro, sources in the hotel industry said.

"The safety and security of our guests have been of paramount importance to us and the terror attacks in Mumbai have only reiterated our concern and made us more vigilant," a spokesperson of Sheraton-Park said.

The hotel has introduced electronic access control system and entry and exit points to the restaurant have been reduced, she said, adding, the number of trained security guards have also been increased.

The spokesperson said they have also installed 'Electronic Eye' IP enabled colour cameras covering all strategic points inside the hotel.

"An internal security audit of systems and personnel is also conducted regularly," she said.

Official of another hotel said that they have also taken various measures, including changing of Entry/Exit gates and setting up of electronic machines for scanning baggage.

"We would also be using sniffer dogs in due course for checking vehicles of the guests," he said.

Meanwhile, a top city police official said, "We have asked all restaurant owners to furnish details of new guests who visit their hotels and also arrange for frequent meetings with them."
