Hutchison Telecom East is all set to unveil Odeon 2004, its annual theatre festival, in Kolkata.

Odeon 2004 would present one seminar, two premiere Bengali plays and two other plays from outside the state, which were widely acclaimed.

The seminar speakers were Samik Bandyopadhya, Manoj Mitra, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Nissar Allana, Amal Allana, Dipankar Home, Anajan Dutta and S V Raman.

This year, Hutch was supporting two Bengali plays with proceeds from Odeon 2003. This year's chosen plays were "Kolkatar Elektra", a play written and directed by Kaushik Sen and presented by theatre group Swapna Sandhani and Blind Opera's "Thaake Shudhu Nachiketa". These plays would be staged for the first time at Odeon 2004.

The other two plays that would be showcased in Odeon 2004, were "The Prophet" an English play, based on Kahlil Gibran's short story directed by Naseeruddin Shah and "Erendira", a Hindi play directed by Amal Allana based on Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novel "Erendira and her heartless grandmother".
