IT firm Infotech Enterprises today said it has secured a multi-million dollar contract from Malaysia-based inCONTROL Tech (iTEC) for implementing GIS information system for a power utility in that country.

The company has signed a multi-year contract with iTEC to implement an enterprise geographic information services (GIS) system for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the largest power utility in Malaysia, Infotech Enterprises said in a statement.

However, the company did not disclose any financial detail in this regard.     "Under the project, Infotech and iTEC would be offering an SOA (service oriented architecture) based solution for enterprise GIS information management to TNB," it said.

According to the company, this implementation would help integrate and streamline business processes across various functions within TNB.

"We are expanding our footprint in the Asia Pacific region. This contract is a critical milestone in our progress in the region," Infotech Enterprises CMD BVR Mohan Reddy said.

This multi-million dollar project for a Malaysian utility project spans over a period of five years.

This partnering agreement comes in the wake of Infotech's growing presence in the South East Asian utilities market and now plans to set up an office in Malaysia, the IT firm said.

Shares of Infotech rose over four per cent and were trading at Rs 175 in the afternoon trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
