Nasdaq-listed semiconductor manufacturer Intel Corporation is expected to unveil Haswell, its next-generation of core processors built on low-power 22nm (nanometer) technology, in the next couple of months.

“We will be unleashing soon the 22nm fourth-generation core processor in the less-than-10-Watt energy consumption space, as against the current series of processors that consume 15 Watt energy,” Jitendra Chaddah, director (strategy and planning), Intel India, said on Monday.

Chaddah was in Hyderabad as part of Intel’s nationwide campaign for driving domestic adaptation of technology in 40 cities of 10 states across the country.

Outlining the company’s global strategy, he said the company planned to grow its PC and datacentre business with new users and uses besides extending Intel solutions to win in adjacent market segments.

The company, with $54 billion in annual revenues from customers worldwide, garners two-thirds of its revenues from personal computing products. It, however, reported a 25 per cent decline in profits to $2.05 billion and a drop of 2.5 per cent in revenues to $12.6 billion for the first quarter ended March 2013 on account of the PC market slump.

On how Intel is aligning itself towards the shift in the market – from PC to ultrabooks and tablets, Chaddah said the company was not worried about the shift as it had products in those space. “Our next-generation products will help us stay competitive.”
