The team, including senior executives of various domestic and international companies, visited the business city to see the Isuzu production plant, which is under the final stage of construction, and the activities in the industrial park, said Sri City management.
The industrial park has an ecosystem for automobile sector, with presence of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like Isuzu, Kobelco Group, Hero Corp, and several automotive ancillary industries, like NS Instruments, Nittan Valve, NHK Springs, Piolax, Mitsubishi Metal One, said Ravindra Sanna Reddy, managing director, Sri City.
He added Andhra Pradesh government is keen to develop an automobile hub in the region.
Isuzu faciliy, set up with an investment of Rs 3,000 crore, in Sri City is expected to start commercial production of the pick-up trucks in April 2016. It is planning to source components from around 200 vendors in India when it commences manufacturing operations, it was said earlier.
With the procurement of components from local suppliers, the company can achieve 70 percent localisation on its vehicles to be produced at Sri City plant. It is also planning to have 100% localisation within three years from operation.
Isuzu will have an installed capacity of 50,000 units per annum initially and will touch 120,000 units at full capacity, it added.
