Airline major Jet Airways on Wednesday said it will deploy the largest aircraft in its fleet, Boeing 777-300 ER, to meet the growing demand on the Mumbai-Singapore route.
"It will allow us to enhance our capacity significantly, addressing the demand for more seats on the route, at a time when trade and investment between India and Singapore is witnessing a healthy growth," Gaurang Shetty, whole-time Director, Jet Airways, was quoted in a statement, as saying.
According to the airline, deploying the largest aircraft in its fleet on the route will increase the capacity by 50% on this key sector.
"With effect from August 6, 2016, the Jet Airways flight 9W 12 from Mumbai to Singapore and the return flight 9W 10 from Singapore to Mumbai will operate on a Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft," the statement said.
"Similarly, flight 9W 09 from Mumbai to Singapore and the return flight 9W 11 from Singapore to Mumbai will operate on a Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft with effect from August 7, 2016."
The airline elaborated that the B777 aircraft will also boost its cargo ferrying capacity on the sector.
"The B777 aircraft with a significantly larger cargo capacity of 26 tonnes, offers more flexibility in transporting various types of consignments such as perishables, pharmaceuticals, machinery and industrial goods between Mumbai and Singapore," the statement further said.
"Additionally, heavy shipments from Singapore to London Heathrow, Paris, Dubai and Singapore can now be seamlessly transported via Mumbai."
Besides, the airline said that its Mumbai-Singapore service also offers convenient connections to Australia and the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region via Singapore on codeshare and interline partner airlines.
"Guests on incoming flights from Singapore will be able to transit seamlessly on to Jet Airways' extensive domestic network as well as travel onward to other international destinations from Mumbai," the statement added.
