The company’s production of flat steel products, which find wide application mainly in the automotive sector, increased 42% from the corresponding period last year to 870,000 tonne. Long steel product output on the other hand continued to decline and was at 150,000 tonne in the period under review, down 1% from same period last year.
Long steel products are mostly used in the construction segment.
In the quarter ended December, the Mumbai-based company’s crude steel production jumped 52% on year to 3.19 million tonne. Flat steel production was at 2.57 million tonne, up 64% from same period last year and output of long products stood at 440,000 tonne, down 9%.
