Kochi-based startup launches portal for vaccination alerts

Codeyssus Labs, a Kochi-based technology startup, has launched a web portal named 'Alertable' to provide periodic alerts about vaccination schedules to parents. Once a parent registers on the website - www.alertable.in, she gets periodic SMS alerts on her mobile phone. Parents may view details regarding vaccination schedules by just entering the email id and phone number combination. On logging in, they will receive a host of information about vaccination schedules, including names of vaccines, scheduled dates and a detailed timeline about the child's upcoming and completed vaccinations.

The team behind alertable is a group of engineering graduates, Blesson Mathew Sam, Anup Sam Abraham, Manu Mathew Thomas, Melvin John and Rahul Ramesh.

The idea came when the young entrepreneurs chanced upon the results of the National Health Survey. "The survey results were quite alarming for us. It said barely 44 per cent of children in India get vaccinations. The severity of this situation prompted us to start working together to work on a technology-based solution for this bottleneck. As a result of our concerted efforts, alertable was born," Blesson Mathew Sam, CEO of Codeyssus told Business Standard.

The company is planning to extend the reach of the initiative by joining hands with various hospitals in the city of Kochi. It also aims to add more features to alertable and thus develop it into a complete healthcare suite, he added.
