The programme is designed to nurture young leaders to take in significant roles with end-to-end responsibility in the areas of mergers and acquisition, new business initiatives and platforms or developing a new geography, Mahindra Satyam stated in a press release.
According to the company, the young CEOs will be fully empowered to run the sales, delivery and domain areas. They will be given development inputs throughout and will have mentors and coaches to guide them to perform this task.
The programme will foster innovation by encouraging a start-up mind-set while providing early leadership opportunities to the associates.
The two IT companies aim to develop 30 young CEOs by 2015. This is "by invitation only" programme where the members are hand-picked by the management council.
“I would like to focus on creation of our CEO force - a model of distributed leadership comprising home-grown leaders and young talent within the organisation, who work collaboratively and interdependently to achieve the purpose of our Mission 2015. Our Young CEO programme is part of unearthing hi-potentials from deep within, encourage the start-up mind-set, provide early leadership opportunities and reflect the theme of being the largest start up in letter and spirit,” said CP Gunani, chief executive officer of Mahindra Satyam and managing director of Tech Mahindra.
