The Rs 5-crore Bangalore-based Maintec Technologies Private Limited expects its turnover to grow by close to 250 per cent this financial year.

The company's subsidiary, ProEd Training Private Limited, on Tuesday launched an IBM mainframe training programme for engineering college students in the city.

Addressing a press conference, Binu C R Nair, training head-India operations, Maintec Technologies, said: "Through this programme called Mentor, the company aims at providing high quality, cost-effective training and education services to students in colleges."

Nair said that, according to industry sources, the requirement for IBM mainframe professionals is around 7,000 and by the year-end it would increase to around 15,000.

The company has launched the programme in Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Pune, Delhi and proposes to launch the programme in Bangalore next month. "During the second phase in December we would be launching the programme in Kolkata and Ahmedabad," he said.

Students would be given an in-depth understanding of mainframe systems in an extensive 320 hour long programme.

Apart from this, the company is also training students in client server and internet technologies at their training centres. ProEd is looking at partnering with 30 engineering colleges across the country to provide training facilities to students.

In addition, ProEd's Mentor placement advisor would provide placement counseling services to all students and help them secure employment after completion of the programme.
