UK-based Medifix Ltd, a medical devices company, plans to set up its wholly-owned subsidiary in Bangalore in the next three months. The company has already invested $250,000 in the arm.

Medifix has also tied up with Bangalore-based Leotech India Ltd to manufacture a cannula-introducing device for the southeast Asian market.

Medifix has created a special cannula-introducing device called 'U-Cann', which, according to the company, is more user-friendly and reduces the risk of needlestick infections in healthcare workers.

Medifix CEO K Srivatsa said that they chose Leotech to manufacture their product, which will be introduced in the markets soon, as it was more cost-effective than any other European country.

"Getting the product manufactured in India works out cheaper. Also, now India has the technical know-how and can deliver the goods in time," Srivatsa said.

The company's Indian arm will sterilise, pack and export the device. Medifix plans to launch the device in the global markets in the next two months and in India in about six months.
