Nera designs, develops, manufactures and markets satellite terminals and gateways for mobile and fixed satellite communications. The state-of-the-art Nera WorldSet will now be used by Inmarsat, a global satellite communications service provider, the company informed.
"MindTree is proud to showcase its end-to-end product realisation capabilities through the successful release of the Nera WorldSet," said MindTree Consulting executive vice president and chief technology officer, R&D services, Vinod Deshmukh.
He said that outsourced product engineering with partners was a futuristic step and Nera SatCom had taken the decision by placing its faith in MindTree. NeraWorldSet will provide satellite communications across any latitude, longitude or altitude, he added.
MindTree, as Nera's development partner, has designed both the electronics and the software components of the Nera WorldSet. The hardware design includes component selection, circuit design and board layout.
As part of the software development, MindTree has incorporated its patented Echo Cancellation technology, which allows the Nera WorldSet to be used in speaker mode without interference of external noise.
Deshmukh said that MindTree has taken care of the quality assurance of the product, manufactured prototypes of the phone and supported Nera during the final production. This apart, this has been designed to work with Nera?s latest satellite terminal, the Nera WorldPro 1000.
"We were looking for a partner who had integrated capabilities in both hardware and software, along with programme management expertise to execute such a complex assignment," said Hans C Guren, Nera SatCom's senior VP, Marine and Mobile.
