MindTree opens in US first delivery centre outside India

Company expects the new development centre to create job opportunities for 400 people in Gainesville area

Mid-size IT services provider MindTree has opened its first delivery centre outside of India, in the US. The new centre is located in Gainesville, Florida.

The Bangalore-headquartered company which derives about 60 per cent of its revenues from the US said has its office located in New Jersey. But this is for the first time that the company have a delivery centre in the US will help it to work with the local clients onsite, Rostow Ravanan, CFO of MindTree told Business Standard.

MindTree expects the new development centre to create job opportunities for 400 people in Gainesville area. The company has created a position General Manager for its US development centre, and has appointed Joelle Smith to that position. Smith will be responsible for expanding MindTree’s presence in the US, Ravanan added.

The company which already has about 700 employees in India including the visa holders, has tied up with the University of Florida to hire local talents.

“Things couldn’t be going more smoothly for MindTree’s USDC. We’ve moved out of our provisional building; our trainees are getting up to speed quickly and we are ahead of most of our target completion dates,” said Scott Staples, president. Americas, MindTree.

In the fiscal ended 31 March, 2012, MindTree reported a revenues of Rs 1,915.2 crore when compared with the previous fiscal. The company employs close to 11,000 people, globally.
