Nokia has emerged as the most searched online brand in the country, followed by SBI and Samsung, according to Internet giant Google.

While Nokia emerged numero uno, State bank of India (SBI), Samsung, Sony and BSNL followed in the first Brand Zeitgeist list, Google India said in a statement.

Automotive and telecom were the most searched for verticals online, it added.

Brand Zeitgeist highlights the most searched brands and the activities related to brands on Google search in India.

While most people searched for model specifications and prices of Nokia products, top queries for SBI included online banking and recruitment.

For Samsung, the search was done mostly for downloads, while users searched for Sony mobile phones and laptops.

Tata also figured in the list for broadband services and automobiles, it said.

Search for financial vertical saw LIC leading in the insurance space, followed by ICICI Pru and Bajaj Allianz. There is also an increased interest for home loans and bank recruitment online, the statement said.

In the automobile vertical, Maruti was the most searched for brand in cars, while Yamaha led the motorbikes category.

In the travel segment, the Indian Railway website is the most popular brand. The growth in the segment has been fueled by train and bus bookings, while airline bookings remain high and steady, it said.
