OMC selects Bigtec to implement ERP

The state-owned Orissa Mining Corporation Limited, (OMC) has selected Bigtec Private Ltd of Bangalore for implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in the organisation.
 
Bigtec will assist the company in introduction and operation of ERP software-SAP R/3.
 
"This is expected to give a cutting edge technology advantage to the mining company in dovetailing its management and handling expanding business volumes besides bringing in greater synergy in operation", said CJ Venugopal, managing director, OMC.
 
OMC is a leading mining company in the country with a record turnover of about Rs 372 crore in 2003-04. Recently, it achieved a debt-free status and has contributed a substantially to the state exchequer in shape of dividends in 2002-03 and 2003-04. It is also one of the first state PSUs to get ISO 9001 certification in the 2000 Version.
 
Bigtec Private Limited, Bangalore, is a consulting firm specialising in SAP implementation and SAP related assignments. Bigtec has demonstrated capabilities in SAP R/3 implementations, upgrades and consulting for SAP customers.
 
Bigtec offers support services to customers who have sub optimal success in ERP implementation. It also offers remote package for SAP customers.
 
SAP R/3 will be first implemented at the OMC head office at Bhubaneswar and only one regional office before being implemented in other five regional offices.
 
The implementation project will span over eight months. According to SC Hota, chairman, OMC, the increasing volume of operations has made it imperative for OMC to implement ERP.
 
OMC is also planning to implement video-conferencing in its offices in Orissa. The SAP R/3 implementation at OMC aims to take the e-literacy levels to the world-standard, he said.
