OTPCL wins Tentuloi coal block

The coal block has been awarded to OTPCL for its 2400 Mw end use plant proposed at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district

State owned Odisha Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (OTPCL) has won the Tentuloi coal block with 1234 million tonne reserves.

The coal block has been allotted to the PSU under Rule 4 of the Auction by competitive bidding of Coal Mines Rules-2012 wherein the coal ministry had decided to allocate suitable blocks to state government companies or corporations and Central PSUs.

The coal block has been awarded to OTPCL for its 2400 Mw end use plant proposed at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district.

"Based on the application received and comments obtained from the Union power ministry, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and other stakeholders, the government has decided to allocate 1234 million tonne of estimated geological reserves to your state government company. In accordance with Section 7 of the 'Auction by competitive bidding of Coal Mines Rules-2012', the Central government has to enter into an agreement with the allocatee end use plant of the identified government company", stated a letter from the Coal ministry to the Odisha chief secretary.

The reserve price for the coal block is to be paid by the allocatee company as specified in the allocation letter or the agreement. The coal ministry has also asked the state government to provide information on the shareholding pattern of OTPCL.
