Praj Industries said that it has developed an innovative technology to manufacture ethanol.
Praj has already filed for a patent for this intellectual property that will allow the company to produce ethanol from corn cob and sugarcane bagasse, a company statement said.
To commercialise this technology, Praj has also inaugurated cellulosic ethanol pilot plant and R&D centre, called Praj Matrix in Pune.
"The break-through puts us right on top of the league with advanced nations," said Pramod Chaudhari, chairman, Praj Industries.
Shashank Inamdar, CEO and Managing Direcotr, Praj Industries said that the company is also setting up a demo plant. "We will add the cellulosic module to an existing conventional distilleries to produce ethanol," Inamdar said.
