Denizens in Rajkot will soon have skywalk made by glass at Kotecha Chowk on one of the city's busiest roads, Kalavad road. The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) Standing Committee recently approved the project which is estimated to cost about Rs three crore. Contract for the project has been given to Ahmedabad-based Ken Infrastructure.
Apparently, RMC will not have to bear any cost to develop this skywalk since it is build, operate and transfer (BOT) project. The skywalk will have around seven shops and one restaurant too. Through the skywalk RMC is expecting to earn Rs 51,000 per month.
The structure will be built at a length of 112 ft, spread across a width of 22 ft and will be 42 ft high from ground level. Four capsule lifts will also be built each side of the skywalk.
