Renault Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) plans to inaugurate its Rs 4,500 crore passenger vehicle joint venture plant at Oragadam on March 18, a state government official said today.
Renault Nissan Automotive India Managing Director Akirai Sakurai met Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin here and asked him to inaugurate the plant, the official said.
"They have asked for Deputy Chief Minister's date for the inauguration and tentatively it is on March 18," he told PTI.
However, company officials when contacted described the meeting as a 'courtesy call'.
Renault Nissan plant would have have a capacity to manufacture 4 lakh vehicles annually and is expected to go on stream in May this year.
