Former Tata Consultancy Services vice-chairman S Ramadorai has resigned as the chief of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), CNBC-TV18 reported.

The development comes in the wake of growing buzz of him being the new chairman of Tata Sons.

Ramadorai was appointed NSDC chairman in May 2013 with Cabinet rank. Vice-chairman Rohit Nandan will discharge duties at NSDC and NSDA till a new chairman is appointed.

Ramadorai is also the Chairman of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, AirAsia India and BSE.

The veteran also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Tata Consultancy Services between 1996 and 2009. Thereafter, he was appointed Vice-chairman at TCS and continued to hold the post till October 2014.

Cyrus Mistry was removed as the chairman of Tata Sons on October 24, and Ratan Tata was reinstated as an interim chairman for four months.
