SAIL, Texmaco, WNS, CPCL & Voltas Q4 results

Steel Authority of India (SAIL), the country's largest steel producing company, on Friday reported a 25 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 2,376.76 crore for the January-March quarter of 2007-08 on high steel prices and improved internal efficiencies. Net profit for the corresponding quarter of the previous year stood at Rs 1,901.88 crore.

The company posted net sales of Rs 13,550-85 crore, up over 35 per cent, for the quarter as compared to Rs 9,983.78 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Texmaco Q4 net up 177%

K K Birla group company Texmaco has recorded a net profit of Rs 30.48 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2008, a rise of 177 per cent over the same period last year, on higher sales.

Net sales for the quarter rose 94 per cent at Rs 213.07 crore over the same period last year. For the year ended March 31, 2008 turnover of the company grew 97 per cent to Rs 937.18 crore. Net profit rose 143 per cent to Rs 69.09 crore.

WNS Q4 net profit dips 32%

NYSE-listed WNS, the nation's second-largest business process outsourcing firm, posted net profit of $6.1 million (around Rs 25.9 crore) for the fourth quarter, a dip of 31.7 per cent from the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was up 4.9 per cent at $116.1 million (Rs 494.58 crore) from the corresponding quarter last year.

Chennai Petro Q4 net up 82% to Rs 344 cr

Chennai Petroleum Corp (CPCL) has posted a net profit of Rs 343.92 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31. This is an 81.88 per cent growth over the corresponding period last year.

The firm had a net profit of Rs 189.09 crore in the fourth quarter of 2006-07, CPCL said. The total income rose to Rs 8,366.73 crore for the latest quarter, from Rs 5,758.99 crore in the same period last year.

Voltas FY08 net at Rs 208 cr

Tata Group firm Voltas has announced a consolidated net profit of Rs 208.37 crore for the year ended March 31, a 3.37 per cent growth compared to the same period last year. The total income rose to Rs 3,247.23 crore for FY08, from Rs 2,588.69 crore in the previous financial year.

For the year ended March 31, the company had a standalone net profit of Rs 208.37 crore, a growth of 12 per cent over the year-ago period.
