Samsung gadgets are likely to face an import ban in the US over patent row with Apple.

Both of the tech giants have been involved in a patent row covering the mobile technology and in August, Apple won a case at the US International Trade Commission (ITC) that found Samsung had infringed the two patents.

Apple's winning called for an import ban on some Samsung products, but as the latter had called for an appeal, the decision was pending.

However, since a US official has rejected Samsung's appeal, the ban is very likely to be implemented, the BBC reports.

US trade representative, Michael Froman said that after weighing policy considerations, including the impact on consumers and competition, advice from agencies and information from interested parties, the decision in favour of the ban has been taken.

According to the report, the patents included finger scanning technology and the workings of the audio jack on smartphones and tablets.

It is unclear which products will be banned because in its appeal, Samsung has claimed that in its latest products, all the technologies used were its own and were not drawn from Apple's patented ideas.
