The star rating label provides energy efficiency standard of the refrigerator in the form of a rating between 1 to 5, with 5 being the most energy efficient product.
A press release from Samsung said against all existing refrigerator models, which are in the 2 or 3 star rating band in the market, Samsung has achieved 4-star rating for all its models.
The star rating is being made mandatory by the Bureau or Energy Efficiency in the next couple of months. But Samsung is implementing the norm ahead of the deadline, the release said.
All the Samsung frost-free refrigerators that are being produced at Samsung's Noida unit are in 4-star category as per the criteria decided by Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
The release, quoting R Zutshi, deputy MD, Samsung India, said "The star rating not only gives the consumer a clear idea on the energy efficiency level of the unit he/she is purchasing, but also a clear idea on power use and therefore the cost saving that he/she can derive from a particular refrigerator."
Samsung could attain a 4 star rating because of its R&D and world-class manufacturing facilities in India, the release said.
