The sanitaryware business houses in the region, that last year were concerned over the slowdown in real estate, impacting business growth for them, are once again beaming with confidence. In the last few months, with real estate activities in the region (Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and periphery areas) escalating, there is positive sentiment among the sanitaryware business houses.

Although the sanitaryware business houses maintained that the business, that was mainly dealing in institutional sales, was more susceptible to slowdown in real estate activities, they maintained the surge in real estate activities was undoubtedly helping all the sanitary ware houses in region.

An official from Kisan Moulding Company that has marketing rights for the EssEss bath fitting maintained that since in the last three months, business had started improving, backed by the surge in real estate activities in the region.

The official maintained that 70 per cent of the business for company came through retail sales while 30 per cent came through institutional sales. He added that though institutional sales were impacted last year, in last few months things had started improving. The business had improved by 20-30 per cent.

The official added that with revival of real estate activities by builders in the region, the company was looking for suitable tie-up in residential and commercial projects in the coming months.

Director, Jupiter Aqua lines Limited, another region-based manufacturer and exporter of sanitaryware fittings and bathroom fittings B S Anand maintained that order flow was definitely better in the last few months. He added though the company’s main sale came through dealer network only, still the surge in real estate activities had helped business improve by 10-15 per cent.
