A local court today deferred the examination of disgraced former chairman B Ramalinga Raju and nine others accused in the multi-crore Satyam Computers accounting fraud to Monday (July 26).
The XXI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court also dismissed the application of one of the accused, Srisailam, to hear the accused before examination and framing of charges.
Magistrate B V L N Chakravarti, in his order, said the application was devoid of any merits and dismissed it.
The court wants to examine all the accused, including Raju, with regard to the allegations against them by the CBI in two separate chargesheets, before commencing the trial.
Raju, the prime accused in the case, is undergoing treatment for Hepatitis C infection and has not been attending court proceedings since September last year, He will be examined through a questionnaire, to be served on him at NIMS hospital on July 26, while examination of the remaining nine accused will be taken up in the court itself.
Meanwhile, final arguments on the petitions filed by Srisailam and another Satyam scam accused, Suryanarayana Raju, the brother of Ramalinga Raju, seeking to discharge them from the case on the ground that there was no substance to the charges against them, will be heard on July 26.
