The founder of the erstwhile Satyam Computer Services Limited (SCSL), B Ramalinga Raju, and other accused in the multi-crore accounting fraud case, have filed appeals in a Metropolitan Sessions Court here challenging the verdict of the special court set up by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) .

The special court on Thursday awarded seven years of rigorous imprisonment to Ramalinga Raju, his brother and former managing director B Rama Raju, and eight others in the SCSL case, which had been touted as the biggest corporate fraud in the country.

Sources familiar with the development said that the appeals were currently awaiting the scrutiny of the sessions court's registry for numbering.

Reacting to the verdict on Thursday Ramalinga Raju's counsel, K Ravinder Reddy, told Business Standard that there were many grounds to agitate before the appellate court and they would approach the sessions court against the verdict.
