Seven workers died and 11 were injured in an accident in a textile facility at Perundurai, in Erode district, today.
The accident took place in the dyeing unit of KPR Mills, as one person fell into the tank and six others entered it to rescue him, which resulted in the tragedy, said a police official. While the actual cause of death is not known, the police suspect that it could be due to gas or chemical poisoning.
Eleven people were injured and admitted to a private hospital, said the official.
Company officials were not available for a comment.
