Online marketplace ShopClues on Wednesday said it had managed to bag half a million sellers on its platform. The increased number of merchants has significantly boosted the total available products and unstructured offerings from various regions of the country on its platform.

This impacts the choice and selection that the marketplace is able to offer to its shopper base. ShopClues expects to have around a million sellers on the platform by December.

The company has taken a series of initiatives for its sellers. Besides, facilitating working capital loans for them, it also has a 'Merchant Discussion Forum' and periodically organises seller summits where it recognises and rewards the outstanding effort of its merchants.

"The half-million mark is certain to have a positive impact on our overall gross merchandise volume as increased choice results in a higher conversion rate. With our goal of on-boarding a million merchants by the end of this year, we will cement ShopClues' market leadership stance as the only online destination shoppers turn to, for their entire spectrum of needs," said Radhika Aggarwal, co-founder and chief business officer.

ShopClues, having close to 300,000 sellers in 2015, has aggressively increased its outreach across the country's merchant base.

Of these, a majority of merchants specialise in unstructured categories now comprise 85 per cent of its complete seller base.

ShopClues' IndiMarket which showcases area-specific artworks of 8 states and 21 cities of India add to the regional representation of the entire country on the platform.

Merchants from various regions of India infuse a fresh and innately Indian touch to the shopping experience on the marketplace.
