| A new company would be formed with Sical holding atleast a 51 per cent stake, Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) will own 26 per cent, the balance will be held by Gupta Coal. A letter of intent was issued by MADC to the contractors on Tuesday. |

| This is the first major contract to be awarded in the Mihan project. Sical and Gupta Coal beat Concor's bid to grab the contract. A senior official from MADC said several companies had evinced interest when tender for constructing the terminal was issued, which included Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. |

| The rail terminal, which is to be built over a 24 hectare area, will service rail traffic from the airport, the SEZ and the surrounding region. |

| The Project, which is estimated to cost somewhere between Rs 60 and Rs 80 crore, will be provide facilities for operation of rakes, loading and unloading of cargo, container yard and storage facilities, ICD facilities such as customs clearance and other ancillary services. The terminal will have a length of 1,150 metres and 70 per cent of it will lie in Khapri village. The remaining 30 per cent will be in Chinchbhavan village. |

| Sical Logistics' spokesman said that it would take another 10 days for the finalisation of the contract. He said that MADC will be granting the project on a 66-year lease rental contract. |

| The project will be on a built-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. At the end of 66 years, the contract may be renewed by MADC for another 33 years, subject to mutually agreed terms and conditions. He said the company will be building a railway siding, central station yard, container freight station, and warehouses. |

| The proposed terminal will have the capacity to handle a minimum of 1 lakh containers (standard or TEUs) and will house three inbound and three outbound container rakes per day. "Initially two parallel tracks will be laid and subsequently, another track will be laid. All the tracks will be linked to the Khapri railway station," he informed. |

| He further said that it will take around 18 months for the project to be operational. |
