SJVNL would fund projects for improving roads, water supply and other civic amenities in the areas around Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power station situated in Shimla and Kinnaur districts, a SJVNL release said.
It said the area has been witnessing frequent landslides. A massive landslide of one million cubic meter had occured on this hill in 1993, much before commencement of construction work of the project, it added.
In view of the problem faced by the locals because of frequent land slides, SJVNL has long been helping rehabilitation of people in the project's vicinity.
SJVNL Deputy General Manager (DGM) Vijay Kumar Verma said recently we provided tents to 82 families who fled Nathpa village and took shelter in nearby jungle in the wake of frequent rock fall.
SJVNL is a joint venture of the Centre and Himachal Pradesh.
