Tata Motors today reported a 15.97% increase in total vehicle sales during January to 87,465 units.
The company sold 75,423 units in the corresponding month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.
The homegrown firm's total passenger vehicles sales in the domestic market stood at 34,669 units in January, up 14.75% from 30,212 units in the same month last year.
Sales of the company's Nano small car stood at 7,723 units during the month, compared to 6,703 units in the year-ago period, translating into an increase of 15.22%.
Moreover, the 'Indica' range reported sales of 11,534 units, as against 10,591 units in the year-ago period, up 8.90%, Tata Motors said.
In addition, the 'Indigo' family recorded sales of 9,272 units, up 9.65% from 8,456 units in the same month last year. Sales of the 'Sumo', 'Safari' and 'Aria' rose by 37.61% to 6,140 units, compared to 4,462 units in the corresponding period last year.
In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 45,713 units in the domestic market during the month under review, compared to 40,263 units in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 13.54%.
Light commercial vehicle sales during the month amounted to 27,375 units, a growth of 15.14% over 23,776 units in the same month last year. Medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales stood at 18,338 units, a growth of 11.23% from 16,487 units in January, 2011.
The company's exports increased by 43.15% to 7,083 units last month from 4,948 units in the same month last year, it added.
