TCS to expand Odisha campus soon

New facility to accommodate 4,000 more employees

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s biggest software services exporter, expects to complete expansion of its software development centre in the city in two months.

TCS currently has a headcount of 1,000 and the expanded facility can accommodate 4,000 more employees.

“We are going to open the new facility at our Bhubaneswar centre in 1-2 months. The facility will add 4,000 people,” said N Chandrasekaran, managing director and chief executive officer, TCS after calling on chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

Stating that TCS has a major presence in Odisha, he said, in its next phase expansion, the software major will create facility that can accommodate 6,000 more employees. This phase of expansion scheduled to be completed by 2015-16, would take up the IT firm's employee strength to over 10,000.

“We are concentrating on Bhubaneswar. The city has availability of talent as well as infrastructure,” said Chandrasekaran. TCS had set up its development centre in the city - TCS Kalinga Park in 2009 on a 46-acre plot.
