Private telecom operator Telenor is modernising its network infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
The company is in the process of upgrading its base transceiver station (BTS) network in UP (East) Circle to deliver higher internet speed and voice quality.
"We have upgraded 1,500 sites and the remaining would be upgraded during 2016-17," UP East Circle business head K C Narendran said here today.
Telenor has 4,875 network sites in the Circle spanning urban and rural areas.
He said the modernised sites would be compatible with Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in mobile telephony. Telenor has 12 million subscribers in UP East Circle.
