Uday Kotak wins EY Entrepreneur of The Year award 2013

Uday Kotak, executive vice-chairman and managing director, Kotak Mahindra Bank, has been awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 award.

Yusuf K Hamied, chairman, Cipla, widely regarded as Indian pharma's renaissance man, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, in a ceremony here, along with eight other successful entrepreneurs.

Kotak would represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Monte Carlo, held on June 4-8 this year.

Rizwan Koita, chief executive officer (CEO), CitiusTech, won the Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year Award. JustDial's founder and CEO, V S S Mani, was winner in the services segment. Rajju Devidas Shroff, chairman and managing director (CMD), United Phosphorus Ltd, bagged the Entrepreneur of the Year award in the manufacturing category.

In the best manager category, the Entrepreneur of the Year award went to Vineet Nayyar and C P Gurnani, Tech Mahindra's executive vice-chairman, and CEO & MD, respectively.

Ravi Menon, chairman, Sobha Developers, won the Entrepreneur of the Year award in the real estate, energy and infrastructure category. Eric Life sciences' chairman, Amit Bakshi, was winner in life sciences and health care. Qimat Rai Gupta, chairman and managing director, Havells India, won the award in the consumer products category. Ajay Bijli, CMD of PVR Ltd, won the highest accolades for business transformation.

Currently in its 15th year, The Entrepreneur of the Year award is based on self-nomination. This year, the eight-member jury was headed by Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman, Aditya Birla Group. Other members were Godrej Group chairman Adi Godrej; Housing Development Finance Corporation vice-chairman Keki Mistry; Shikha Sharma, MD of Axis Bank; and Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh Shroff & Co managing partner Shardul Shroff.

The annual EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards programme is run across 145 cities in 60 countries.
