Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro today said it has received an order worth Rs 1,060 crore from Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) to build an offshore oil platform.
The company has secured the project in order to accelerate production of first 'oil/gas' by 2012 from its technically challenging KG Basin, off the east coast of India, Larsen & Toubro said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The company would be responsible for survey, engineering and installation of the wellhead platform, the filing added.
Upon final commissioning, the facility would add about 6 million standard cubic metres of gas per day to India's energy production.
Shares of Larsen & Toubro were trading at Rs 1,651 on the BSE, up 0.07 per cent from previous close.
