A disappointing experience in renting a Scooty from a Delhi vendor prompted childhood buddies Pranay Shrivastava and Moksha Srivastava to start a venture in the motorcycle rental space. Upon gaining in-depth insights, both from customers and vendors, they with another common friend, Mrityunjay Jha, started WheelStreet.in.

Into 15 months, the Delhi-based online aggregator platform in the two-wheeler rental space has 25 vendors in Delhi and three vendors in Bengaluru. The portal has around 2,000 motorcycles listed, including at least 50 premium bikes from Harley Davidsons, Suzukis and Kawasakis to Hyosungs and Royal Enfields.

Rentabike, Wickedride and Stoneheadbikes are competitors of WheelStreet. The firm says solving the real-time availability problem, and providing end-to-end solutions to customers, including a hassle-free booking process, online payments, driving licence, mobile number, e-mail and Facebook log-in verifications, competitive pricing and giving an assurance to vendors that their bikes were in safe hands, is what makes them stand out in a crowd.

Operating on an asset-light model and burning no cash for customer acquisition, the firm is aiming at aggressive plans to stay ahead of peers. "We have so far done 11,000 rides. Our plan is to execute 100,000 transactions by the end of 2016," says co-founder Pranay Shrivastava.
