Wipro Technologies, the IT arm of Wipro, today said it had created a focused global unit 'Business Operations Unit' by consolidating business application services and global delivery service among others.

The company will consolidate its business application services, global delivery, quality and IS teams under the newly formed Business Operations Unit, Wipro Technologies said in a statement.

This will enable Wipro to deliver differentiated value for clients with seamless, predictable execution, it added.

Bhanumurthy BM will take over as the Chief Business Operations Officer. In close to 20 years at Wipro, Bhanumurthy has worked across business, service line, delivery and operations.

He is serving as the Senior Vice President and Head of Wipro Technologies' Retail, Consumer Goods, Transportation and Government (RCTG) Strategic Business Unit.

Srini Pallia, who currently leads the Business Application Services (BAS) Service line, will replace him as the head of RCTG Strategic Business Unit head.

Bhanumurthy and Pallia will continue to report to Wipro CEO (IT Business) and Executive Director TK Kurien.

The above changes will be effective from January 1, 2012.

"Our strategy of driving a significantly higher degree of customer engagement and hyper growth has started paying dividends. As part of the strategy, we have committed to better aligning our internal organisation to our clients' needs and to make investments in driving predictability and automation in our delivery," Kurien said.

Also, Wipro Global Chief Delivery Officer Sambuddha Deb will retire from the company by March 2012.

Having worked for close to thirty years at Wipro, Deb has been instrumental in bringing in Lean and Six Sigma methodology to the company's operations. He will continue his association with Wipro in an advisory capacity.

The company has been undergoing a series of restructuring to streamline its operations.

Kurien took over as the CEO, replacing joint CEOs Girish Paranjpe and Suresh Vaswani, followed by realignment of business units.
