Chhattisgarh moots plan for monitoring pollution on "monitor"

The office of the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board would also be upgraded with the required computer devises to start the new system

Chhattisgarh government had asked the industrial units to install required devises that would make the authorities to check pollution online.

The industrial facilities across the state would install the devise in the computer system that maintained the data of the pollution level. The system would be online and the required devise would be installed that could make the government officials concern to access the data on the office monitors.

"The industries had been asked to install the on-line pollution monitoring chips by August 15," state's housing and environment minister Rajesh Munat said. The state government would take stringent action and order the closure of the industrial unit it if failed to install the required devise, the minister added.

The office of the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) would also be upgraded with the required computer devises to start the new system. The authorities had not discussed the issue with the local industrialists before implementing it. The industrial associations are meeting late Monday evening to discuss the issue. The state government had decided to go tough with the industries in terms of controlling pollution. Earlier, the board had approved a proposal to shift the two major industrial development centres namely Urla and Siltara. Both the centres had been located at the outskirts of the Chhattisgarh capital.

The proposal was later pull out. The authorities had cited pollution as one of the reasons for mooting the plan to shift the entire industrial centres.
