With 2,684,956 more people getting Covid-19 vaccine shots on Saturday, India’s total count of those inoculated reached 122,622,590. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 12,809,643 – or 86.64 per cent of total caseload – with 138,423 new cured cases being reported on Sunday.
- With a daily increase of 261,500 in total cases, the most in a day so far, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 14,526,609 on Saturday to 14,788,109 – an increase of 1.8%. Death toll has reached 177,150, with 1,501 fatalities, the most in a day so far. Now the second-most-affected country by active and total cases, fourth by death, and second recovered cases, India has added 1,429,304 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 9.87% of all active cases globally (one in every 10 active cases), and 5.86% of all deaths (one in every 17 deaths).
- India has so far vaccinated 122,622,590 people. That is 844.12 per cent of its total caseload, and 8.8172 per cent of its population.
- Among Indian states, the top 5 in terms of number of vaccine shots administered are Maharashtra (16883290), Rajasthan (15451755), Uttar Pradesh (15366444), Gujarat (14291123), and West Bengal (12864291).
- Among states with more than 10 million population, the top 5 in number of vaccine shots per one million population are Kerala (235048), Gujarat (223745), Chhattisgarh (213288), Delhi (192761), and Rajasthan (190685).

- The count of active cases across India on Sunday saw a net increase of 121,576 compared with 109,997 on Saturday. States that have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Uttar Pradesh (19383), Karnataka (11845), Kerala (10154), Maharashtra (9921), and Delhi (8794).
- With 138,423 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate stands at 86.62%, while fatality rate has come down marginally to 1.20%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (2.65%), Sikkim (2.06%), and Maharashtra (1.62%). The rate in as many as 15 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 139,924 — 1,501 deaths and 138,423 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.07%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 1.6%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 38.9 days, and for deaths at 81.5 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (67123), Uttar Pradesh (27334), Delhi (24375), Karnataka (17489), and Chhattisgarh (16083).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Chhattisgarh (74.43%), Uttar Pradesh (78.11%), Maharashtra (81.18%), Madhya Pradesh (82.72%), and Jharkhand (83.00%).
- India on Saturday conducted 1,566,394 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 266,538,416. The test positivity rate recorded was 16.7%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases – are Maharashtra (15.99%), Goa (11.25%), Ladakh (10.97%), Chandigarh (9.28%), and Nagaland (8.94%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Chhattisgarh (29.83%), Maharashtra (24.67%), Delhi (24.56%), Goa (21.81%), and Madhya Pradesh (21.44%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (862726), J&K (493907), Kerala (396724), Karnataka (347056), and Telangana (294901).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (3770707), Kerala (1221167), Karnataka (1141998), Tamil Nadu (980728), and Andhra Pradesh (955455).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 67,123 new cases to take its tally to 3770707. The state has added 597,446 cases in the past 10 days.
- Kerala, the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 13,835 cases to take its tally to 1221167.
- Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 17,489 cases to take its tally to 1141998.
- Tamil Nadu has added 9344 cases to take its tally to 980728.
- Andhra Pradesh has seen its tally going up by 7224 to 955455.
- Delhi has added 24,375 cases to take its tally to 827998.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 27,334 cases to take its tally to 821054.
