Goa BJP MLA threatens revolt if govt allows dance bars in state
BJP Goa spokesman Wilfred Mesquita had recently said there was nothing wrong about dance bars
A BJP legislator threatened to rebel against his own party today if the party's government in Goa allows dance bars in the state.
Michael Lobo, who represents Calangute constituency, said he would rebel if dance bars are allowed in Goa.
"We will rebel if anyone gives permission to dance bars," Lobo told reporters after meeting Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Lobo, who is also heading BJP's North Goa unit, said dance bars have been allowed by the Supreme Court with a rider that the state government should permit the same.
"I don't think Goa government will permit dance bars," he said.
