Govt to service Rs 10,506-crore liability

Amount is 41.68% of total liability, which is apportioned to Telangana on population basis

Telangana will have to service and repay Rs 10,506.59 crore raised through small savings instrument by the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh way back in 1999.

The amount is 41.68 per cent of the total liability, which is apportioned to Telangana on population basis.

In an order issued on Monday, the finance department said the amount shall become a liability of the state of Telangana with effect from April 1999 and be held in the subsidiary general ledger account at public debt office of Reserve Bank of India in Nagpur.
