The AP high court today observed that all eligible colleges should be allowed to take part in the web counselling for engineering admissions.

The court's observations came in the context of around 142 colleges submitting to it that while they were meeting the AICTE-prescribed faculty on their rolls, other key deficiencies cited by the state-appointed task force would be put in place within a time-bound manner in consultation with the state government departments.

However, managements of private colleges have little to cheer as the deadline for web options closes today.

The court was hearing a petiton filed by private colleges for inclusion of 174 left out colleges.

AP technical council chairman L Venugopala Reddy said officials of JNTU-Hyderabad, which is responsible for overseeing the quality standards in place and the grant of reaffiliation, would now have to examine their claim of having adequate staff, upon which, it would grant the reaffiliation.

"The exercise for examining the staff at these colleges cannot be done overnight and they would be asked by the Telangana government to submit undertakings on meeting the other key deficiencies cited by the task force in their recommendations," he said.

The Telangana Engineering and Professional Colleges Managements Association , which had filed the petition, said "they were yet to receive the full copy of the court judgement."
