The Indian high commission in Pakistan was not aware of yoga guru Ramdev's aide Ved Pratap Vaidik's meeting with Pakistani terrorist Hafiz Saeed, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said Thursday.
The minister told the Lok Sabha that the Indian mission in Pakistan had stated that it knew nothing about the Lahore meeting between the two that has triggered outrage in India.
The opposition has asked if Vaidik went as an official emissary to Pakistan.
The minister said she heard that Vaidik "told some news channels that the high commission knew about the meeting. We then sought a report from the high commission.
"I am again saying with full responsibility that the government had nothing to do with either Vaidik's visit or his meeting with Hafiz Saeed."
