 "Isro to soon launch record 83 satellites at one go")
Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is set to make a world record during the first quarter of 2017 by launching 83 satellites in one go. The current record of 37 satellites was set by Russia in 2014.
Rakesh Sasibhushan, chairman of Antrix Corporation, commercial arm of Isro, said "this is a huge opportunity for us to showcase our capability." Also something which will inspire industries, to know the potential of the business and revenue which could come to India, he added.
Isro will be launching the 83 satellites, 81 being foreign ones, atop of a single rocket. The total payload would be around 1,600 kg. All these satellites will be put into a single orbit.
Antrix has an order book of around Rs 500 crore in the launch services segment. Isro says it is talking to customers to bring another Rs 500 crore of orders.
