Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) head M Karunanidhi demanded the Prime Minister should not participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) held at Colombo, Sri Lanka, next month.

Speaking to reporters here, he said if the Prime Minister decides to go to the meeting, his (PM's) party will have to face consequences, and added, he viewed even a speck of rust should not be going from India to Sri Lanka for the meeting.

The comment comes after reports suggested the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to go to Sri Lanka to attend the CHOGM.
