Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday announced the launch of their new initiative called 'Play for Kings- the road to Kings Cup', ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) season eight.
The initiative will provide a platform to cricketers to get a chance to play for the 'Kings Cup' and 'You versus Star' events organised by the franchise ahead of IPL 8.
The initiative is organised in association with TSD Corporation. The selection process has commenced from January 6 till March 8. Aspiring cricketers from all over India will be eligible to take part in the campaign.
To participate in the contest, the participants can register themselves online by uploading their performance videos at www.kxip.in/PlayForKings or www.PlayForKings.com. The participants can also link their videos on social media platforms and then invite Kings XI Punjab fans to vote for their favourite #PLAYFORKINGS participant. The videos will be shortlisted by program official coaches. Besides, an on-ground training and selection camp will be held for 100 players shortlisted from all the entries. The top 100 entries will be further streamlined and final 32 will be selected who will play in the 'Kings Cup'. Fraser Castellino, chief operating officer, Kings XI Punjab, said, "With 'Play for Kings", we are collaborating both digital and on-ground spaces to reach out to budding cricketers with the intention of providing an opportunity to showcase their skills."
