Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday slammed his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal for demanding images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh on currency notes and described his statement as a tactic to garner votes.
Talking to reporters here, the senior Congress leader accused Kejriwal of raising an emotive issues just for votes. Asked about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader's controversial statement, Baghel said, At different times the Government of India decides whose photos will appear on currency notes and coins. But to gain votes Kejriwal has used this tactic." I was watching in the news yesterday, photos of great leaders Ambedkar ji and Bhagat Singh ji were kept where he (Kejriwal) was addressing a press conference (where he made the statement). Had they been alive, could Kejriwal have said these things in front of them? Was his statement motivated by their ideology?" he asked. Baghel further said wherever Kejriwal fights elections he just plays emotional card to garner votes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address BJP's election rallies in Himachal Pradesh from November 5-9, state BJP president Suresh Kashyap said on Thursday.
As per tentative programme, the prime minister will address rallies in Shimla, Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi, he said.
Kashyap said BJP chief J P Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union ministers Bhupender Yadav, Anurag Thakur, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Smriti Irani, party spokesperson Sambit Patra and several other prominent leaders will also address election meetings in various parts of the state.

More than 25 per cent of the 59,100 candidates who secured admission in Delhi University's first round of seat allocations have frozen their seats while nearly 60 per cent of them have opted for an upgrade to their higher 'programme+college combination' preference, a varsity official said Thursday.
Thursday was the last day for opting for an upgrade.

About 28,000 mobile phone numbers being misused for committing cybercrimes have been identified and they will be blocked soon, a senior Haryana Police officer said on Thursday.
The 27,824 phone numbers were identified through cybercrime helpline number 1930 and complaint portal cybercrime.gov.in, Additional Director General of Police (Crime) O P Singh said.

A fast-track court hearing a plea seeking permission to allow worship of the "shivling" claimed to have been found in the Gyanvapi mosque complex here will pronounce its verdict on November 8.
Advocate Anupam Dwivedi, appearing for the Hindu side, said that the fast-track court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Mahendra Pandey heard the arguments of both sides and reserved its order on the suit till November 8.

India is likely to see the world's biggest rise in energy demand this decade, with demand climbing 3 per cent annually due to urbanisation and industrialisation, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in its World Energy Outlook released on Thursday.
While the push for renewable energy will see it meeting as much as 60 per cent of the growth in demand for power, coal will continue to meet a third of overall energy demand by 2030 and another quarter will be met by oil.
