To help children realise their dreams, the Madhya Pradesh government would incorporate former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s life-sketch in school curriculum.

The state has declared seven days' mourning in the wake of Dr Kalam's death. He died in Shillong yesterday while delivering a lecture.

At Raja Bhoj airport, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters that teaching about Dr Kalam’s life would inspire children to be an ideal citizen.

"A separate lesson on his life would be included in school education curriculum and taught in schools across the state," Chouhan said.

Terming him a constant source of inspiration to many, Chouhan said Dr Kalam’s death had created a void and it was an irreparable loss to the nation.

He had, Chouhan said, proved that talent and hard work could make one reach the highest position though "he was from a modest family." Chouhan said Dr Kalam was a visionary and he had defined the way the country could achieve status of a developed nation by  2020.
