A 50-year-old man was lynched by a mob after he allegedly shot dead a Dalit youth over political rivalry in Gopiganj area here, police said today.
Jatan Ram shot dead the Dalit youth Bhola Nath (21) on the last day of campaigning for the panchayat poll in Sujatpur village last night, Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Rai said.
Enraged over the incident the villagers vandalised Ram's house and beat him to death, Rai said.
Keeping in view the tension prevailing in the village heavy force has been deployed, the SP added.
